Partnerships and Associations
Our relationship with the Better Business Bureau of Washington goes way back. We strongly believe in trust and accountability: even with improved access to reputations and ratings the Better Business Bureau is still the best way to enforce accountability.
If you see a business listed in the BBB index with an ‘A’ rating you can be assured that the business is not sketchy: you’re not going to get taken for a ride.
The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is the largest and most diverse business association in the Puget Sound region. Founded in 1882 by local business leaders, the Chamber today is an independent organization representing 2,200 companies and a regional workforce of approximately 700,000.
The Downtown Seattle Association (DSA) is the member-based non-profit 501(c)(4) organization focused exclusively on making Downtown Seattle a great place to live, work, shop and play through public policy advocacy, economic development and marketing.
Our goal is to provide excellent IT service. Building an organization that is capable of this cannot happen in a vacuum as many others have tried many strategies to do this correctly before. SeaLevel consulting has delivered a strong foundation from which we can grow our company by providing proper systems assessment and planning and day-to-day operations help.
Core Technology and Vendor Partnerships
One of our two most recommended and installed lines of firewall and security equipment designed for small- to mid-sized business. Cisco-Meraki uses a novel cloud-based management scheme which simplifies administration and allows us (and by extension our clients) greater visibility into their networks activity. Provisioning and tracking the myriad of mobile devices our clients use on their networks is easier, which means we can deliver more complex, more useful and more secure solutions to our clients.
Our relationship with ConnectWise goes back to around 2007. We have always felt a strong central helpdesk with a reliable ticketing system behind it was important. ConnectWise actually represents our second ticketing system (we once used RequestTracker) but ConnectWise tracks time, projects, client information, products and handles invoicing. IT can not be managed effectively without strong organizational tools. ConnectWise allows us to deliver service efficiently and helps us document everything thoroughly.
Like many IT firms, we were struggling with ancient outdated backup technologies in the mid-2000s. We went shopping and found some innovative cloud-based services that allowed us to completely recreate a client’s network virtually “in the cloud” in the event of a major outage. Since these services were so novel they were extremely complex and expensive.
More research led us to Datto, which produces some amazing appliances at all price points that allow us to take complete snapshots of running Windows servers and spin them up locally or remotely as virtual machines in the event of a hardware or software failure (or natural disaster!) Datto’s technology is quite novel so I won’t say our experience was always smooth sailing as they worked the bugs out. But over the past four years Datto has really pulled together and produces excellent systems. It all “just works.” We are so committed to Datto that we require Datto for fixed fee agreements–because we are completely confident we can get broken systems back up and running with Datto regardless of what caused an outage. In 2015 Datto is still leading the sector with powerful systems that guarantee business continuity at reasonable prices.
BDPNetworks is an Elite Datto Partner; one of just a handful in the U.S.
We partnered with SonicWALL back in 2007. Dell-SonicWALL provides reliable firewalls that are surprisingly feature-rich at a good price point for small businesses. Full content filtering, gateway antivirus and intrusion prevention are available on all of their models which is why we specify these units specifically for clients that need full functionality on a restricted budget.
Our relationship with HP started in the late 1990s before Brian Place started BDPNetworks. Compaq (at the time) produced the absolute best servers on the market with their ProLiant brand and HP continues to deliver fantastic servers to this day.
We work with other server vendors as needed but will always specify HP first: our hands-on experience with management and reliability proves to us that they are a very good investment in your business.
At BDPNetworks we specify the best technology we know that will get the job done. McAfee offers the best e-mail security and anti-spam solution we know of with their SaaS services (software-as-a-service.) We partnered with MXLogic in 2007 before McAfee purchased them and have used their service ever since in front of our clients’ on-premise e-mail servers. Our clients don’t complain about spam because they get very little: a true testament to how well this service continues to perform.
Microsoft is a key strategic partner for BDPNetworks because 95% of all of the work we do involves their software or services. Since the late 1990s when Brian Place (our Principal) cut his teeth on Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 Microsoft has been a key player in the business IT space and shows no signs of slowing down.
As more and more software starts moving towards the cloud we are positioning ourselves alongside Microsoft as a true cloud management agency. We will specify, deploy, manage and build out Microsoft’s cloud services (mixed with on-premise systems as needed).
N-Able (by Solarwinds) provides us with an industry-leading toolset which we use to manage our clients’ technology assets. In addition, they have provided us with business process consulting and vision about how to assemble and manage a Managed Service Provider. Our partnership with N-Able goes back about 10 years, before most people even knew what a Managed Service Provider was!
N-Central by N-Able is the primary platform we use to manage, monitor, support, secure and optimize our clients systems.
Microsoft produces fantastic business software and services. But they’ve never really produced wonderful migration tools. With the rise of Office365 (which includes hosted Exchange Online) we saw the need for powerful tools that could easily move our clients’ on-premise E-mail data to the cloud. SkyKick solved that problem and we use them for every Office365 migration to ensure data fidelity with minimal downtime.
